Two Denver Pedestrians Injured in Two Separate Accidents

Posted by Jeremy Rosenthal | Jan 23, 2020 | 0 Comments

The danger to Denver pedestrians is very real, as demonstrated in one December night in Denver, Colorado. Two pedestrians were seriously injured in two separate crashes that both occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2019.

A woman was walking near Evans and Pecos when she was struck by a vehicle. The collision resulted in her suffering a broken leg.  Denver police did not indicate whether the vehicle remained or fled the scene after the collision.

Earlier in that same evening, another woman was walking in the 6900 block of Tower Road. She was suddenly struck by a vehicle, which then fled the scene. She was taken to the hospital and treated for a broken arm according to local police.

Pedestrian Dangers in Denver, Colorado

Pedestrians are, by their very nature, vulnerable to serious injury at the hands of a negligent driver. The human body versus a car is always going to lose. Cars are heavy and can move at incredible speeds. This combined weight and speed create a significant amount of force upon impact that can lead to incredibly serious injury.

Accidents with pedestrians are caused by a wide variety of factors, including, but not limited to:

  • failure to see crosswalk,
  • inattentive drivers (watching videos, texting and driving, kids in the back seat, looking at a billboard or ad, playing with the radio, etc.),
  • improperly marked crossways,
  • impatient drivers,
  • construction,
  • failure to yield to a pedestrian,
  • defective brakes,
  • asleep at the wheel,
  • medical conditions (epilepsy, diabetes, etc.),
  • poor weather conditions (slippery roads, low visibility, night driving),
  • unsafe sidewalks,
  • intoxicated drivers (alcohol, over the counter drugs, prescription drugs, illegal narcotics), and
  • obstructions of view (for drivers and/or pedestrians).

These dangers are far from the only ones, but they demonstrate the unique pressures that a person walking faces to avoid the danger posed by negligent drivers. When a negligent driver is the cause of an injury to you or a loved one, a personal injury attorney can help you get the financial compensation you deserve.

Getting the Financial Compensation You Deserve

After you are injured as a pedestrian, it is likely that the bills are starting to add up. Medical bills related to injuries can easily reach into the thousands of dollars, or even hundreds of thousands just within a couple of months. When this is the case, you may feel on the verge of bankruptcy, and that your life is falling apart.

However, it is the negligent driver that should be responsible for the costs of your injuries. With a successful lawsuit, you can win the financial compensation you desperately need, including, but not limited to:

  • past medical bills,
  • future medical bills,
  • rehabilitation costs,
  • lost wages,
  • lost earning capacity,
  • pain and suffering,
  • loss of consortium,
  • disfigurement, and
  • punitive damages (in limited cases).

You deserve to be fully compensated for an accident that was not your fault. You should not have to bear the high costs of your injuries.
