One Dead and Two Injured in Colorado Car Crash

Posted by Jeremy Rosenthal | May 28, 2020 | 0 Comments

A tragic car crash on Colorado Highway 160 took the life of one person and injured two others. It happened Monday just after noon in Huerfano County, when a 2012 Ford Expedition was heading east on the highway.

The SUV crossed into the westbound lanes to pass a car ahead of it, but it crashed head-on into a 2015 Hyundai Veloster that was going west. The driver of the Ford Expedition was a 67-year-old Westminster woman who had to be transported to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai Veloster was a 41-year-old Albuquerque man. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. His passenger was a 37-year-old woman who was flown to a hospital due to life-threatening injuries.

Common Injuries Due to Auto Accidents in Colorado

Head-on crashes are often devastating, as two cars driving toward each other and colliding at high speeds can lead to serious injuries or death as we see with this case. While we don't know exactly what kinds of injuries the victims of this Colorado auto accident suffered, the following are some of the most common car accident injuries seen:

  • Back injuries
  • Neck injuries
  • Broken bones
  • Internal bleeding
  • Head trauma
  • Concussion
  • Burns
  • Nerve damage

If you were in a head-on crash in Colorado and suffered these or other serious injuries, you may be facing medical bills due to your hospital stay, medications, physical therapy, and more. And considering that some injuries require lifelong medical care, you might be expecting more bills in the mail soon.

You shouldn't have to pay those bills yourself, especially if you had to take time off work to recover from a car accident that wasn't your fault. This is why you should talk to a Colorado personal injury attorney to find out what damages you can pursue for the chance to get compensation for your accident-related expenses.

Damages You Can Seek After a Colorado Car Crash

When you hire a Colorado lawyer to represent you, he or she will look at your case and determine which auto accident damages you can seek compensation for. They vary depending on the details of the auto accident, but they often include the following:

  • Emergency medical care
  • Follow-up doctor appointments
  • Medications
  • Physical therapy
  • Property damage
  • Pain and suffering
  • Lost wages

As you likely know, it can cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars to pay for medical care following the accident, as well as car repair or replacement after your vehicle is damaged. You deserve to simply focus on recovering after the accident, not trying to figure out how you will pay for an accident you didn't cause. Fortunately, the at-fault driver's insurance company will typically be liable for these bills.

But auto insurance companies rarely want to pay without putting up a fight first. So if you don't hire a lawyer to represent you, you risk the insurance company delaying or outright denying you the payment you need for your accident-related expenses.

And even if you do get your payment fast, there's no telling if you got the amount you deserve. If you want the peace of mind of knowing you got the right compensation to pay for your expenses after a serious accident, you need a Colorado personal injury attorney on your side. Contact one today to get the legal help you need.
