One Dead After Motorcycle Crash in Colorado Springs

Posted by Jeremy Rosenthal | May 04, 2020 | 0 Comments

A tragic single-vehicle accident took the life of a motorcyclist over the weekend in Colorado Springs. The accident occurred Saturday evening on S. Academy Blvd. When police arrived, they saw that the motorcyclist was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that cars had been traveling south on S. Academy Blvd. toward a green light when they suddenly started to slow down. When the motorcyclist tried to slow down, too, he lost control of the bike and slid into a concrete median near a shopping center entrance. He was ejected from the motorcycle at that point.

He had been wearing a helmet. After the investigation, police said they don't believe either alcohol or speed were factors in this Colorado Springs motorcycle accident.

Common Causes of Colorado Motorcycle Accidents

Police did determine the cause of this devastating motorcycle accident, and it was simply that the motorcyclist lost control of the vehicle as he tried to stop to avoid hitting the slowing cars in front of him. Luckily, they were able to quickly rule out speed and alcohol as possible causes.

But it's not always that easy to determine the cause of most Colorado motorcycle accidents. There are several factors that often come up in this type of accident, with the following being the most common causes of accidents of this kind:

Sometimes the auto accident is the fault of the motorcyclist, as he or she was speeding, impaired, distracted, etc. But in most cases, accidents are caused by the dangerous decisions made by other drivers on the road, and they most affect motorcyclists.

After all, motorcyclists aren't protected by seatbelts, airbags, and metal around them like the drivers of cars and trucks are. As a result, they're more likely to get injured or killed in auto accidents, leaving them with medical bills and motorcycle repairs they can't always afford. That's why it's so important to contact a Colorado personal injury attorney after a serious motorcycle accident.
